A GOOD MAGAZINE!

Dear friends, today I recommend an interesting magazine than I read all Sundays. It magazine is about the home & decoration. I read it because I like the architecture and design, so I take good ideas and plan the house of my dreams. Also, here appear beautiful landscapes when the people build wonderful houses far of the pollution and density cities.

The house of my dreams is big and far of Santiago. This would have beautiful gardens too, when my pets and children’s are play every day. Also, near the house will be necessary a pool, because I love swim. The place of build I don’t decide yet, but I prefer the south of Chile. The style of architecture than I prefer for a house is a type in harmony with the environment. For example, if I live in a forest, I would like a house of natural wood.

Also, in this magazine appear interview of important architects and design persons, when they talk about new ways of constructing. Sometimes appear offers very interesting too, and my mum and I running to its.

Well, for all the reasons I like this magazine, and I hope than you read too.

Error correction activity. Damn Spring!!

Is allergy or flu? I don’t really know, but I feel this from when the damn spring started! Most people think that the spring is the best season of the year, but I disagree with them, I hate the spring.

What’s the reason? Ok, here is the argument.

First the change of temperature, all days we don’t know how are the day: cold, cloudy or sunny. Also the meteorologists are liars, so they’re wrong with the forecasts and they cause colds. I don’t know whether to take a coat or not! Really bad =/

Second: A lot of plants produce pollen that is spread about everywhere. The air is infected by fluff and we breathe all day, causing sneeze after sneeze.

Well…not all is bad. The birds sing and the horary change to the summer time is good. Otherwise good is the October 16 day. What’s happened that day? It Is a really important date…..My birthday! =D

The magnificent Rio de Janeiro!

Around the world have a lot of places than I would like knowing, but the first for me would be Rio de Janeiro!

I would like visiting this place because I think is very interesting and entertaining. The people here are dancing every day the samba and they would teach me your traditional dance, and I would dance in the “Carnaval of Rio” and we would drink Caipiriñas!

Also, this city has beautiful beach and have warm water. In this place I would swim and sunbathing and I come back to my country with a perfect tan. One example is Copacabana beach, famous by 4 km beach.

In Rio I would visit the Cristo Redentor too, an international popular figure of Cristo located in the top of the Corcovado hill.

In general, this place always takes my attention. Casually I signed up to participate in a contest for a trip for 5 friends and I to Rio de Janerio today. If I will be winner I would travel in December to this place, I hope this. It would be a great prize for my work during this year. Why people come with me to Rio? That’s real problem. I don’t know why I choose. May be I w be a sweepstakes whit my friends favourites. It would be a unforgettable trip!

A photograph I like

I love the photography. I think than I will be photographer because this profession I like so much. I think all photos are important, because this represent one special moment.

I have a lot favorites photos. I like my photos or than take other person. But in this last time I like so much take pictures to my little niece. She name is Renata and she was one year old. I like take pictures to her because she is a very photogenic baby. She look very beautiful in all photos and she like so much when I take photos from her.

This photography was in our last September 18. The place is Algarrobo, a beautiful beach nearly to Santiago. Renata is located specifically in a games located inside the enclosure where we are staying. All days in the afternoon we went whit her to this games because she played here and knew other babies too.

In this photography, we can see your beautiful smile (always we look there, because she is very happy) and I choose this photography for this reason. Also, her smile shows her little white teeth and your eyes show very emotions.
I hope than it photo like too!!

Field Trip!

I write about a best field trip than I was.

Really, this field trip wasn’t one subject in particular. We went to Mendoza, Argentina for a meeting of South American geography.

We were travel to Mendoza in September, 2006 and it was a great experience. During one week we visited a lot of places in this city. For example, the city park, restaurants, clothes stores, was places than we visited in our travel.

The climate was good, the son illuminated ours days. Suddenly we had a lot of heat, but we bought and eat much ice-cream because it was very cheap.

Also some of us went to a geological reserve located west of the city in the piedmont of the Andes. It is called "Divisadero Largo". The reserve was very beautiful and our visit was very educational, because we saw geological faults that allowed the outcrop of different kinds of sedimentary rocks. A negative thing was that we walked very much!!!!, and we not drunk water, because had not places.

In general, I enjoy this visit and it was for me an unforgettable experience that I hope to repeat whit my friends, my classmates.

Damn spring!!

My favourite piece of technology :D

This global World is invaded of technology. All days we know new piece of technology, new methods, new systems and other new things. Thoug I like all technology, my favourite piece is undeniably the computer.

This “stupid, fast piece of technology” is incredible, because it has much quality than be made incorporate in our livers. The computer is applicable in all areas of knowledge, for example, in my area of study, the geography, creating GIS.

I got it my first computer when I was approximately nine years old, but the computer is very different now. In the past, I did not know the digital camera, the Pendrive, the I-pod or the mp3, so I used only for made homework in Microsoft (93’) or listened music by CD’S.

From ten years old to the actually I learned to complement other elements with the computer. For example, I learned how to download photos and fix them with software. Also changed ways of store information, from the old diskette software (with 33 KB of maximum capacity) to the pendrive with very, very much capacity!

I use the computer (equal than much people) very frequently. I download different content, connect with people, play, use face book, or other things. I like for this reason, because is an integral system.

What life would be like with out it? I don’t know. The life will be very boring and mired in backwardness.

A GOOD FILM

Trainspotting is a British film of 1996 directed by Danny Boyle and based on the novel written by Irvine Welsh.

I saw some years ago, I don’t remember the date exactly. I saw because a day a friend and I stayed at my home when he told me he had seen this film and liked him very much. He also said that he had in his house, then I asked him to seek out and saw the movie together. He told me: Mairita brilliant idea, and then came with the film. We prepare something rich food and then we sat down to see the movie.

This movie liked me so much too, because the subject is very interesting. The film is about a group of Edinburgh heroin addicts who haven’t aspirations on their way through life. The principal actor, Mark Renton, says that continue a normal life, like the others is very complicated. So he says that are much easier to be an addict, because the addict does not work, it has no partner, has no liability or moral, only has to worry about getting what you can afford to sell him their addiction. Therefore, it is not stressed, has no love fights, and is quite individual. But with the passing of time, he realizes that can not be plunged into a circular target, and decides to be helpful.

This is one a my favorites movies and I recommended totally for people who have not seen.

ARO ARO ARO ARO

The festivities on September are where we gather to celebrate our country, our culture and our independence. Really the festivities are for two days. On September 18 we remember the first national meeting of government realized in 1810 and on September 19 we celebrate "The day of the glories of the army" and include military parades celebrating the naval and military victories of Chile.

For ourself is really important remember those national moments, that’s reason for extended the festivities for one week approximated.

My family and I seize this occasion for travel to the coast and we relaxed so much. We eat typical Chilean food as empanadas, anticuchos and seafood. Too we are practice typical Chilean games, for example elevate comets with thread healthy of course. Some people go to the RAMADAS or funds, I dislike these places because are a lot of drunkards and there scare me. Also, we tried to dance the cueca, typical Chilean dance, but don’t result very good.

My favorite September was the last, because we were very happy with my family. We visited Algarrobo, a beach located in the central coast and the time accompanied us every day with a radiant sun. Unfortunately when we arrived to Santiago I downed in bed because a terrible flu that has me very badly. But the important is than I feel happy tikitikitiiii

ME AND THE FUTURE

My future... I think than will be fantastic!! I'm sure than I will be very happy, because I'm very lucky person. The future don't scare me. I will be have a big house with a swimming pool and I will be invite to my classmates university, and we will eat and drink (coffe or tea) very much, because all of them will have very good jobs and we will have money. Also I will be need a great car, of course, because it's necesary to every proffesional person and I think than in five years more the public transport will collapse.

Where I will live? I don't know really, but I prefer the countryside. The distances from my house to the city (when I will be job) will not important, because we will have roads clear.

Finally, my profesionally future. This will be fantastic!. I will be exelent profesional and I will be recognize for all people. I will job in the phisical geography area and mey be I will be write some new theories.

Learning English: My experience

My English experience started in the primary school. I don’t remember the name of my first teacher because she was a short time with us and after she went to another place than I did not know. I remember my second teacher. She was with us about five or six years and in my opinion she was really bad!! She called “Mireya” (horrible name) and she slept in class! Your class was very boring then I always got up from the chair and I talked with my classmates . This was the reason for my poor performance in high school. I had bad notes, and I didn’t like this language.
I didn’t have dimension about the important of the English Language until I started the University. From the first year of Geography the teachers delivered us English text and this were really difficult for me. Now I enjoy learning and I think than I’m good student. I practice in my free time with friends. We talked, listened English songs and after we translate. I think than I progress every day and I hope learner more and more in the future.
About the English culture I don’t know much, because I don’t have English friends and I don’t know English-speaking people. May be if I will travel for nations when the people speak English I learned complete this language. But I don’t have money so I need study and practice here, because English is very useful for me and I think than at this moment for all the professions in this globalizing world

Something about me =B

Hello ladies and gentlemen! This is a little review about me. My full name is Maira Figueroa Vera and my nickname is Mairita- Althoug some classmates call me Pokemaira I’m not part of this urban tribu, because I’m populais =P. I’m twenty one years old and I was born in Santiago of Chile.

I live with my family. My father called Luis Miguel (equal than the artist) and my mother is Natalia. I have one sister called Catalina and your daughter, the beautiful Renata. I have two daughters too, my cats Polita and Dominga. they are really, really wonderful!! I have two dogs and a turtle also, because the house is big and we love the animals!.

I don’t have a lot of hobbies. I like practice skate about one years ago because my best friend is skater so he is my teacher. We practice sometimes and we go to the skatepark. Is really funny, entertaining and this sport have much style yeah!!! I go to the gym too, but isn’t a hobbie for me.

I’m Geography student too, in the University of Chile. i'm in fourth year and the career like me so much. Geography is the career of the future. We will save the world as the captain planet jiji

My blogging Experience

What I liked?

I am entertaining so much in the blog. I liked post and read about my classmate post, although I need translate many words, because is important understand what they mean, so I need use the Google translate page (only sometimes). Also, I liked find photos than relation with all my posts, because makes them more appealing and interesting.

What I didn’t like?

I didn’t like the page format, because the last post went down the page more and more. I thought that it would be best if it resembled fotolog, where each entry is published and comments of photography, and when it publishes a new post it is archived. But with time I changed my idea about this and now I love the page!

What helped me learn English?

I don't realize how I learned. Suddenly I understand the words and translating in my mind (or context if I don’t know the words). I’m sure than the practice is the key of knowledge. At this moment I feel really bilingual, and I plan a travel in my holidays for an English nation, may be England or United State, I don’t know.

My favorite post

My favorite post is when I write about Marilyn Monroe, when we choose one interview with a ours idols, because I am really fans of her and was easy explain of her. At that moment my question for her was: who killed you?, equal of the song "¿Quién mató a Marilyng?" of “ Los Prisioneros”, a Chilean group of rock music.

Which is the best blog in the class?

The best blog in the class is my blog, of course: http://bleedingxxstars.blogspot.com/, because is “very stylish” (Simon said in a commentary) xD. But, I think also others blogs are good, for example the Jhoy blog is very comic and make me laugh a lot. Of every way, my blog is fantastic! Starting for the colors, and finish in the content. ARE YOU GEOGRAPHY STUDENT?

I study geography because I think than is very important for the planet future. The change climate and the effects in the environment are essential in the modern world and this profession takes care of sustainable development.

I decided study Geography when I read in a magazine about this profession. This was an interview on a Geographer than spoke about your experiences in this area. So, I liked so much the interview and I dreamt in contribute the development of a better future, ours future. Also, I never decided for social sciences or environmental sciences and Geography is unique in bridging both.

I will work in 10 years more in a governmental department doing much projects and will learn more about my profession.

We can save the planet doing studies and chats about the conservation, transport planning, land and water management, environmental consultancy, development, demography, housing and social welfare, all for make a best world.

In my opinion, this profession is very important in the future of our planet. We need with urgent transform ours life forms or we will not save the death planet, cause of the depletion of resources and the contamination of the environment. Is very important a new use of resources and reach sustainable development. Tan tan!

Who killed you??

If I have an opportunity of meet whit somebody, this person will be “Marilyn Monroe, the legendary Hollywood diva”.

I think that this woman was able of conquest the world whit you big attractive. But despite its beauty and its seductive curves, Marilyn was much more than a sex symbol of 50 years. The apparent innocence of his eyes with his innate sensuality made her an icon image of international admiration for over a century. His life was a reflection of his passion and personal struggle. Today her spirit shines alongside the prestige of its unique image of legendary Hollywood diva.

She was born in 1 June of 1926, and was baptized called Norma Jeane Baker. Whit 16 years old, she was married with a marine and lived to Los Angeles. During the Second World War your husband was sent to Australia, and in this time she was photographed by a journalist who did an article on women's contribution to the economy during the war. After, the journalist asked her authorization for take more photographs and unwittingly she converted in model.

In the Hollywood history this woman is very important. She represented the glamour of one era, was the first front cover of the Playboy magazine and sang for John Kennedy.

In 1962 was proclaimed as the “World Most Popular Star” whit the Golden Globe. Unfortunately that same year whit 36 years old she die in California, down strange situations that at this moment are not clear.

I feel admiration for this woman, so in my meet whit her, I question to Marilyn, who killed you?!!

The BBC is a entertaining site when the people can learning English!. You can access from http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/ and visit the different links from here. Before I wasn’t knew this place, but like me so much and I think than you will like too!.

The form and colors called my attention, because are beautiful and I enjoyed view. Also, all the links have cartoons about the respective theme.

You will see much different things, this depend of you like. For example, if you will read, or see images, learn, know new word, play, see series, etc. In resume, if you have time I invite you prove the BBC!.

Unfortunately in this page I wasn’t listened and saw videos, because is necessary a program of video and mp3 than this computer (in the FAU) don’t have =( ñeee. But I surfed in this page and I see all the opportunities offered.

In my opinion, is very important this site and similar whit this, because we learn English interacting whit the language, and entertaining too!

On a good song...

Do you remember Cruel Intentions film? Well, in that movie i listened the song that I like. “Bittersweet Symphony” is great!.

This song was originally by The Verbe, but other artist has covers. This Rock band was born in Wegan, England in 1898 and was a most important England group from 90’.

When I listened for first time I loved the instrumental melody of the song, because relax me so much and the letter express me much emotions.

I think that the song is about somebody submitted in the system and how he suddenly have the tied hands for change your life, when the composer say “I can change, but I’m here in my mold, I’m here in my mold”, make reference to the situation.

The music, the lyrics, everything about this song is very liberating. I can sense the person's emotion, excitement and willingness to change for himself. ."It's a bittersweet symphony, this life" meaning, there depends on how you choose to live your life, if you decide for the good or bad way.

My favourite place in Chile!

What place do I choose of this long and narrow country?, Is very difficult if I think in one of all the beautiful places. But I have my favourite. This place is called “Lican-Ray” and it is located in the south of Chile, in the Araucania Region. I enjoyed visiting because is a small village in front of Calafquen lake with lukewarm water and the tourists can be swim or do other water sport. I went there the last summer, but I go to this place all my vacations because I love the peace and the nature of that place! I went with my family, because they like too! In my last visit, I swam in the lake and walked for the coast, I visited the handicraft fair and we went to the Villarrica Volcano. Also, we went to others lakes (Villarrica Lake, Caburgua Lake and Panguipulli lake) and visited others near villages. I was so happy!.

"The Book" Interview

The interview was a total sample of 10 people, 6 men and 4 women. The most popular book among all the interview was "100 años de soledad"(of Gabriel Garcia Marquez), with tree women only one man prefer this book. However everyone agrees that the book is very entertaining, they love to the writer, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, the most popular sudamerican writer.

Between the others, were variations about styles of literature. For example, one person prefer the porno, he was bolder in his choice, choosing 20 years old of the “play boy magazine”( because for he this book as holy bible), “white little dove” written by Enrique Lafourcade, And “The Lord of the Rings” written by J.R.R. Tolkien. All prefer Spanish literature; excepting one person than say than your favorite book is the "innovations", we English Book.

When we asked, why selected these books? They answer the following…., they loved the magic with which tells the story, others thinking that they can learn whit the book, and others simply enjoy the women’s sex photos.

And, although they like to read a lot, the most of the persons only read once a year their favorite books.
